Medical Residents & Interns are the backbone of healthcare in India. The amount of burden they bear is unmatchable from the rest of the world. There are days when they don't get proper sleep. These sleepless nights do make them learn important concepts of medical science but it also take a toll on their mental health. Since the pandemic started, the amount of burden has increased tremendously. Specially the Medicine And Anaesthesia residents are in the front in fighting this deadly virus . Even the cases in Psychiatry have gone multifold. Medical suicides are increasing day by day, asking us to introspect. In these alarming situations, I had a chance to interview one of the emerging Psychiatrist of Jaipur, Dr Rahul Kansal. We discussed about the declining mental health of residents & interns. He explained very well about the current scenerio and enumerated various ways to deal with the burden. We also discussed changes required in current situation.
