Penn State Career Conversations

Episode 6, Part 1: Negotiations from the Candidate Perspective

Listen Later

Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Penn State Career Conversations Podcast. I’m your host Zach Follador. It’s been a while since we last spoke, I hope everyone had a restful holiday break and a good start to the new semester. As a reintroduction to the podcast, this week we’re releasing the Salary Negotiation Series, which is a series of three episodes that will tie into the Financial and Occupational Wellness days. The purpose of these episodes is to provide some tips and reassurances on negotiation tactics while going through the interview and job offer process. Two episodes will focus on the candidates viewpoint, and the third will be based on the recruiters perspective. This first episode will be candidate focused, and I’ll be joined by a few fellow Penn Stater’s who were kind enough to join the show.

In the first interview in this episode, I’m joined by Latrese Morris, a 2019 grad who obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and now works as a Technical Writer in her hometown of Rockville, Maryland.

To close out this episode, I’m joined by Matt Corlew, a current senior at the Behrend campus in Erie. Matt will graduate in May with his degree in Mechanical Engineering, and he has already accepted an offer to join the rotational leadership development program at Ford upon his graduation. I think both interviews offer some great perspective on interviewing and negotiating, and I hope you’ll find some value in them.
