Katie grew up in Alabama, and traveled a winding path to end up living and working as a professional musician in the Washington, DC area. For more than twenty years, she has worked as a performer and educator, working as many as 90 hours a week. Her love of data science always hovering in the background, Katie found that the COVID shutdowns were a time to regroup and reevaluate. In this episode, we discuss how and why she decided to transition to working in the public health data science realm, and what it means to be a musician and music educator.
