There is a fundamental difference between approaching something with each of these mindsets.

Think about it, if you play not to lose, you are always being the "Frog In The Pot", you are always justifying why you should not do something, why its a bad idea.

Playing to win, is exactly the opposite, this mind set is all about "what must I do to succeed?". You have a real goal and you will do everything you can to achieve it, you will do what ever it takes!
