Episode 6: Rescoping "Cybersecurity" during a National Emergency

Listen Later

This is a big week for government information security policy, better known as cybersecurity. Corporate technology companies with foreign ties have been at the center of problem trades, sniping and regular harms to American networks.

What's not being said is, while minor powers in the middle East, with no technological advancement to compete with intelligence services have been upheld as the "global threat" magnet the ACTUAL threat landscape has moved onto US continental grounds.

There are a a lot of reasons for this self-sabotage, but the root problem is information and intelligence threat scope creep and politicized intelligence gathering on domestic political and policy actors. If the agencies given the mission of protecting the United States would be allowed to do their jobs in a legitimate fashion, US cyber protections would improve rather dramatically.

ACTION ITEM: I urge you to write a physical letter to your US Congressional Representatives seeking an injunction from a federal court against mass surveillance of any record during a national emergency, denying any claim to consent by any federal agency during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, using a secret or public program.
