Outwitting the Devil by Napoleon Hill is a fantastic book describing how the Devil uses fears to destroy your success.
In the book, Hill discusses with the Devil how he was able to control people to keep them for being successful.
He also discussed the 6 Ghosts of Fear.
The Devil said the Fear of Poverty, Criticism, Ill Health, Loss of Love, Old Age, and Death are his greatest tools.
The Fear of Failure and Fear of Success are just minor variances of these.
Hill states that the Devils 2 biggest Fears that he uses are the fear of Poverty & The Fear of Death.
The most devastating is The Fear of Poverty. This is the most destructive fear of them all.
It robs people of accurate thought, kills self-reliance, paralyzes creativity, faculty of reason, destroys imagination, undermines enthusiasm, discourages initiative, leads to uncertainty of purpose, leads to procrastination, destroys ambition, and invites other things including unhappiness.
I think this is one fear that most people, myself included, has faced at one time or another.
This fear is put into our subconscious mind usually very early, by caring people who learned it from their families or caretakers. I was raised by my grandparents who lived through the Great Depression. We recently went through the 2nd depression, from 2007 - 2014. The fear of poverty has killed many a dream.
Many people have great ideas or big dreams. They have goals they want to achieve, they have Dreams about things they can create, but never do, because the fear of poverty, fear of not being able to support themselves or their family prevents them from pursuing those dreams, those goals.
As I mentioned, I am a podcaster. This, however isn't my first entry into podcasting.
I heard about podcasting in 2004. I thought, what a great idea. This will replace Radio some day. In 2005, I was very successful, doing well financially. I lost my position, became a loan officer in 2006 worked hard, in 2007 the market started crashing, things started getting rough. No money coming in, kids in college, bought a franchise, the market there tanked as well because of the economy. I had to shut the business. No money coming in, had to work where I could get it, had to get rid of my house, started worrying about paying bills, being broke, losing everything. I developed the Fear of Poverty. Couldn't think straight, lost energy, lost initiative. I forgot a lot of things. One was podcasting.
Shoo Bee - I've told the story of my fear of bees before. I once abandoned a moving car when I noticed a bee was flying around inside.
I was terrified of bees, UNTIL, one of my martial arts teachers told us that bees were the strongest insect on earth. It was so strong it could move a human being several feet without even touching it.
Like Bees, All fears are small -
I have a new philosophy on Bees and Be-liefs these days. When either one comes around me, I just point my finger at it and say "Shoo Bee" and it does. The Bee and the negative Bee-lief usually do go away.
