In this episode of Navigating Life Podcast Tyisha Jenkins shares her memories of her moms sacrifice for her children in the midst of addiction, her role as a first born child, the suicide of her younger brother, the death of both her parents and her perseverance through it all with Gods help!!! Tyisha is still determined to make a difference in the lives of others as she shared her story of Navigating Life and Loss.
Tyisha is a native of Houston, Texas where she has taught high school English for 18 years in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Performance and a Master of Education in Educational Administration, both from Prairie View A&M University. Tyisha is also a devoted mother to her teenage son, Geordan. Tyisha has overcome many obstacles in her life such as abuse, poverty, and her parents being addicted to drugs and alcohol her entire life. Although Tyisha overcame her difficult childhood, nothing prepared her for the loss of her mother, brother, and father within a span of 10 years. Promise, A Global Women’s Devotional, is Tyisha’s debut book where she shares “A Promise Through Pain”, her testimony of God restoring her hope, joy, and peace after these tragic losses. In this devotional she hopes to inspire others to lean into God during times of sadness and despair. Tyisha has encouraged friends and family deal with loss by sharing the six ways she overcame the losses she experienced. She hopes to expand her writing career with a prayer journal and other projects. In addition to teaching and writing, Tyisha also owns and operates an up and coming t-shirt line and business called Skool Khloz and a new YouTube series with her cousin called Teacher Tea Time. Tyisha lives by her father’s constant encouragement “Education without application is merely information.” She applies life lessons: good and bad, practical and theoretical, logical and irrational to her journey of faith, strength, resilience, and overcoming. Through Tyisha’s authenticity and transparency, you get someone who is transformational, relational, and inspirational.
