THE STACK (COMICS)
The Saviors #3, Image Comics
The Who: James Robinson (Writer), J. Bone (Artist)
The Good: We finally get some color! Rich Mexico scenery art.
The Bad: 20 pages? Way too much dialogue written way too casually.
FINAL RATING: 3 PEWS
Evil Empire #1, BOOM! Studios
The Who:Max Bemis (Writer), Ransom Getty (Artist)
The Good: Art is crisp and gorgeous. Vivid colorwork by Chris Blythe.
The Bad: Too “dense”? Soapbox feel and pot shots. No progression via characters.
FINAL RATING: 2 PEWS
Starlight #1, Image Comics
The Who: Mark Millar (Writer), Goran Parlov (Artist)
The Good: Parlov’s art is reminiscent of Moebius and Dave Gibbons, which is always welcomed. Millar’s story and pacing is amazing, making you catch the feels as well as leaves you with a helluva cliffhanger.
The Bad: Not a goddamn thing. That I didn’t have issue 2 already?
FINAL RATING: 5 PEWS
WARP ZONE (GAMES)
South Park: The Stick of Truth, Obsidian Games
The Good: Humor. Like a 10-hour long South Park episode.
The Bad: Slight hiccups in framerate. Not enough fights in-between scripted battles.
FINAL RATING: 4 PEWS
APP-LE OF MY EYE (APPS)
Royal Revolt 2, Flaregames
The Good: Free. Nice twist to the Tower Defense Genre having you have to play through other peoples’ set-ups.
The Bad: Definite cash grab, like all F2P games. If you’re forking over cash for virtual currency, you’re probably in Gold League easy. That’s lame.
FINAL RATING: 4 PEWS
OMGTV (TV SHOW)
Noragami, FUNimation
The Premise: Story of “up-and-coming God” Yato and his struggle to become more relevant by taking odd-job “prayers”.
The Good: Animation-style is reminiscent of big-budget Japanese movie animation. Music direction always on point.
The Bad: Nothing much so far. Sometimes the show takes detours for a little more character development, so they stray away from the main story progression. But it’s enjoyable regardless.
FINAL RATING: 5 PEWS
LET’S GET REEL (MOVIES)
300: Rise of an Empire, Warner Bros. Pictures
The Good: Eva Green’s acting and tits. Great camerawork. Gore plentiful. If you’re going to eat popcorn and watch mindless killing, you’re gonna have a good time.
The Bad: Against Green’s acting, everyone else wanes in comparison. Very little plot and progression.
FINAL RATING: 3 PEWS
PLAY ALONG FOR 3/18
Comics: The Returning #1, BOOM! Studios
Game: Titanfall, Respawn Entertainment
Movie: Need for Speed, DreamWorks Pictures
