Ingrid shares her own personal experience with violence in close relationships. She moved to Norway with her daughter and her husband at the time and was struggling a lot with the migration process of learning a new culture, new language and new selection of food. She came to understand what she went through with her ex-husband was psychological and economic abuse. Ingrid didn’t get the help she needed from the Norwegian public services such as the women's crisis centre (women’s shelter) and helpline, and felt discriminated against as a foreigner. It took her 3 years to leave her abusive marriage and she now feels a sense of freedom - to eat and cook what she wants.
Trigger warning: Trigger Warning: This episode will discuss a specific person’s experiences with violence in close relationships. This may be triggering to readers and listeners with similar experiences.
