Her recent first-hand experience with cancer and numerous chemotherapy-related side effects, further drove home for her the importance of quality of life among patients with life-threatening illnesses.

In 2021, Pure Earth, an international non-profit organization that leads the global fight to reduce disease-causing pollution, awarded Lisa an Impact Award, for her unrelenting commitment to supporting Indigenous communities in the Amazon and responsibly harvesting and commercializing the first-ever plant-based oral medicine approved under FDA Botanical Guidance, over a thirty-year period!
