🎙️ Sermon Series: What Then? (Part 1)
Sermon Title: I'll Be Happy When...
Pastor Verna DeHart | June 3, 2026
Have you ever caught yourself thinking, "I'll be happy when..."?
I'll be happy when I get married.
I'll be happy when I buy the house.
I'll be happy when I reach my goal.
I'll be happy when life finally settles down.
In this opening message of the What Then? series, Pastor Verna DeHart addresses one of the most common traps people face: believing that peace, contentment, and fulfillment are waiting in the next season of life.
Drawing from Philippians 4, Pastor Verna reveals that contentment is not found in achievements, possessions, relationships, or future outcomes, it is learned through a relationship with Jesus Christ. While goals, dreams, and accomplishments are valuable, they were never designed to carry the weight of our identity or become the source of our peace.
In this message, you'll discover:
• Why goals make terrible saviors
• How achievement often exposes what success cannot fix
• The danger of placing your hope in future outcomes
• How to find peace before the breakthrough arrives
• Why Christ alone completes us
• How to live from wholeness instead of striving for it
Through powerful biblical examples from Paul, Solomon, and the woman at the well, you'll be challenged to ask a life-changing question: What then? What happens if you finally get the thing you've been chasing and still need peace?
God's desire is not merely to change your circumstances but to settle your heart. True contentment isn't found in another season, another accomplishment, or another milestone. It is found in the presence of the Prince of Peace.
Key Scriptures:
Philippians 4:11–13
Matthew 11:28
Mark 8:36
Psalm 23:3
Ecclesiastes 2:10–11
John 4:13–14
Isaiah 26:3
Colossians 2:9–10
Featured Thought:
"Peace is not waiting in another season. Peace is found in Him right here, right now."
