We often confuse our gesture of forgiveness as releasing an actor from judgement. That type of forgiveness is left to the courts. Spiritual forgiveness means that I give up any harsh feeling against the actor and will not seek vengeance. I am releasing my right to carry ill-feelings toward that actor. As a Christian, forgiveness is required, it’s not optional. When I don’t forgive, I am not able to allow the presence of God to occupy my spirit.
