Paul emphasizes that our struggles are not against flesh and blood, but rather against the rulers, principalities, and powers of the heavenly realm. Paul’s description of our adversaries can be linked back to the gods of the nations referenced in Deuteronomy 32 and Psalm 82. Recognizing the identity and role of these spiritual beings is foundational for how we approach spiritual warfare. It also shapes our understanding of the Day of the Lord, as both are influenced by the dynamics described in these Biblical texts. To better understand how this affects daily life, we examine Colossians 2:13–3:10, which links these ideas to the importance of gaining a Biblically accurate understanding of the way we develop habits.
