Strong and Courageous

Episode 64: God Is Greater Than The Storm

Listen Later

Hey friends! Welcome back to Strong and Courageous! Have you ever been scared during a storm?

Maybe the thunder was so loud it shook the windows, or lightning flashed so bright it lit up your whole room. Sometimes, when things get dark and noisy, it’s easy to feel afraid — not just of storms outside, but of the “storms” in our lives too.

Maybe something at school is hard, or a friendship is rocky, or someone you love is sick. Those can all feel like storms.

Let’s talk about a time when Jesus’ friends faced a real storm — and what He did to show them He’s greater than all of it.

One evening, Jesus and His disciples got into a boat to cross a big lake. The water was calm when they started, and Jesus was so tired from teaching and helping people all day that He fell asleep.

But as they sailed, the wind started to blow harder and harder. Dark clouds covered the sky, and soon waves were crashing into the boat. Water splashed everywhere — the disciples were drenched and terrified! They shouted, “We’re going to drown!”

Meanwhile… Jesus was still asleep.

The disciples shook Him and yelled, “Teacher! Don’t you care that we’re about to die?”

Jesus stood up, looked at the waves, and said, “Peace. Be still.”

And just like that — the wind stopped. The waves calmed. The storm was completely quiet.

The disciples couldn’t believe what they saw. Even the wind and the waves obeyed Jesus!

They realized something powerful that night: when Jesus is in your boat, you don’t have to be afraid of the storm.

We all face storms — not just with thunder and lightning, but the kind that happens in our hearts. Maybe you’re worried, hurt, or unsure about something.

But no matter what the storm looks like, Jesus is stronger. He’s with you. And He can bring peace to your heart, just like He did that night on the sea.

When life feels out of control, remember — Jesus is still in control.
