In this final episode we will look at Romans 7:13-25, the man who struggles and wars in the flesh against sin. The man who cannot overcome, even though he desperately want to. As we examine scripture we will find out why this person cannot overcome. Why they continue to do evil, but cannot do good. As it turns out this is still the condemned man who is a slave to sin. I you haven't listened to the previous episodes in this series, you will want to as it adds additional background. In summary, Paul is teaching why sin is the cause of a persons death and not the law. He uses the "old man" in this teaching example. The man who is 1) a slave of sin, not free like the man in part 2 who has been spiritually cruicified and baptized, 2) doesn't understand, 3) only does or practices evil, 4) cannot do any good that he wants 5) nothing good dwells within him, only sin; 6) is wretched and condemnedPassages Covered: Romans 7:13-25; Katergazomai [2716] verb-to work out: Romans 2:6-10 (vs 9), 5:3, 7:15, 7:17, 7:18, 7:20, 15:18; 2 Corinthians 7:10; James 1:2-4; Ergazomai [2038b] Verb-to work/produce: Mathew 7:23, John 3:21, Romans 13:10; James 1:20; James 2:9; Prasso [4238] Verb-to do, perform (STRONGs concordance uses the term "practice"; but this is inconsistent with many vs like: Romans 7:15,19; Luke 22:23, 23:41; Acts 5:35, 15:29, 16:28, 19:36 etc) John 3:19-20 (vs20), 5:29, Romans 2:2; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Galatians 5:19-21 (vs21).
