Hey friend!
Thank you for your continued love & support as I continue to open up & share my full story with you.
On today's episode we're chatting about the need to support yourself while loving an addict, & I'm specifically focusing on therapy & Al-Anon because I have had first hand experience with both.
For me, finding my therapist was a GAME CHANGER.  It was (is) so nice taking an hour of my week to sit & let it all out to a non-biased, third party.  So much inner work & self-reflection was done which ultimately helped me throughout my (continuous) grief journey.  I highly recommend you get a therapist -- someone just for you.
One of the other prominent support systems is Al-Anon - a branch of AA that is for the family members who love an alcoholic.  Al-Anon is a great organization, but as I talk about in the episode, it wasn't for me (which I explain).
At the end of the day though, it doesn't matter what your support system looks like as long as it feels good & works for YOU.  Navigating this season of loving an addict is overwhelming & isolating, so don't make your support system more complicated than it needs to be.
If you have questions, or you're not sure which way to go, send me a message on Instagram @meredith.coviello.felice & I'll be happy to walk along side you.
If you're not ready to talk about it, here are some resources for you to start your support journey:
Finding a therapist: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us (how I found mine)
Google: Talkspace or Cerebral for tele-health therapy
or just Google "find a therapist near me"
Each therapist has a little bio & tells you what they specialize in
Al-Anon: https://al-anon.org/
You can go to their website, take a personalized quiz about what you're experiencing with your loved one, & then find virtual or in-person support groups
