You Can Trust Yourself

Episode 65. How to Support Others Without Losing Yourself

Listen Later

We’ve all been on the receiving end of a phone call from a friend or family member in need.

When we’re on the receiving end, we usually want to give and do anything possible to help that person we care deeply about.

This is one of the most beautiful parts of relationships and community: being there for one another.

However, the only way we can truly support one another is if we first take care of ourselves.

It is possible to truly support your loved ones while continuing to also support yourself.

In order to do this, we must:

  • Set boundaries with ourselves and our loved ones
  • Decide how much support we can provide to different people
  • Prioritize ourselves and fill our own cup first
  • Separate ourselves from other people’s problems and not take them on as our own
  • Take care of ourselves in the morning and prime the day
  • Speak up for ourselves when we don’t have the space to support others
  • These are all topics we cover in today’s episode.

Remember, this is not something that we will master in one day. Learning how to balance taking care of ourselves while also being there for others is a life-long process and requires constant work.

We can’t tackle everything at once. Take your favorite tips from today’s episode and begin there. You’ve got this!

We truly hope you enjoy this episode. If you find this episode valuable, please share it with a friend. Your support helps our show grow and for that, we cannot thank you enough!

    Love,
