Jasmine Souers, a young breast cancer survivor from Jacksonville, FL, was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer at the age of 26 in 2016. With the support of her family and close friends, Jasmine underwent a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction, 25 rounds of proton therapy radiation and completed five years of hormone therapy. While cancer changed the trajectory of life as she knew it, Jasmine’s diagnosis launched her into the pursuit of a purpose-driven life. She turned to her faith and her love of books and personal development to help her grow on her journey. Her bachelors degree in public relations from the University of North Florida and nonprofit marketing and development expertise came in handy when she co-founded For the Breast of Us, the first online community for all women of color affected by breast cancer.Today, Jasmine emphasizes the power of collaboration for innovation and better health for all as the founding President and CEO of The Missing Pink Breast Cancer Alliance and Editor of More Life Magazine. She is a board member for GRASP and lends her experiences and expertise to efforts that advance health equity in breast care such as the American National Breast Cancer Roundtable and CDC’s Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women.Connect with Derly
