Kay Olson is a recipient of the 2023 YWCA Women of Achievement award in science, technology, and environment due to her work in helping vaccinate community members during the pandemic. She is the clinical lead for Public and Community Health courses at the Washington State University Spokane School of Nursing, helping to prepare students for their careers helping others.
