Today, Lisa Maddock, a juice plus educator joins me on the podcast and shares her journey of trauma from a broken home and substance abuse at an early age as a coping mechanism to a successful wife, mother, and businesswoman. Lisa was able to stay clean while she was pregnant and nursing her children but admits that the pull as always there. Over the years she found herself yo-yoing back and forth between being clean and then binge drinking. But it was after a weekend in Florida celebrating her mother's birthday that she realized she was unable to go an entire weekend without drinking and that something had to change.
Lisa talks about how she had to start with being honest with herself how much she was actually drinking and it was her faith that gave her the strength and helped her discover tools to overcome her addiction and clean her lifestyle up once and for all. She now helps teach others who are recovering addicts to channel that all in personality and energy into good things and not things that harm you. Lisa has found alterative drinks, she maintains a running program, and surround herself with people that encourage her and lift her up. Please share with all of your friends and lets end the shame and stigma around substance abuse in motherhood and support everyone to get the help they may need.
