When Cobra Kai first aired on YouTube it seemed to be on the right track, not only in bringing back the original Karate Kid cast, but also in the overall story arc of a broken-man, anti-hero trying to salvage some part of his deadbeat life. Violence escalates as the seasons progress--losing much of the more interesting character development along the way--although, this story also (perhaps) inadvertently highlights the need for a good male role model in the lives of teens and adults alike.
