That evening, at Mak Salmah’s request, Lina made a pot of tea and placed in front of her mother-in-law, and sat across from her on the other chair. 

The older woman nodded once, indicating acknowledgment of the beverage, her eyes not leaving the television screen as she adjusted herself more comfortably on her chair. 

Lina, for a lack of anything better to do also sat back and watched the screen.

"Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been trying to do."
