Michele got started in softball when she was six years old and her older sister played. Michele didn't began pitching though until she got to high school. Michele Smith admits that she would have loved to be a mid infielder if she would have been right handed, but being left handed has given her the upper hand in a lot of situations especially facing some of the best batters in the world.

Michele was tough, but she was a big team player. She would stay after practice to assist in BP for her other teammates and help them the best way that she could to better the team as a whole.
