Zac & Mia is an adaptation of a book with the same name by A. J. Betts. Although the series returns to a familiar theme of teens battling life-threatening illness, this series is less dark and romanticized and more respectful and encouraging of those who fight to live and the struggles of rebuilding their lives. There's still plenty of YA Romance in it, but not enough to overshadow the relatively realistic feel of the story.
