Johanna López, is back! After managing the demands of the predominantly Hispanic community she represents as the first and only Latina member of the 150-year old Orange County Public School Board in Florida, to change the name of the one single standing public school STILL named after a Confederate General to Roberto Clemente Middle School, she’s back to celebrate with us. Ms. López had become the hope and voice to win this fight and in this episode of I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY, we close Hispanic Heritage Month with a bang! She has returned to share the magnitude and impact of this “small” victory. But you see, Johanna’s entire life has been a series of small victories that, when brought together, exemplify a life of servant leadership, resiliency, determination, creativity and grit. As an Afro-Latina who grew up in the projects in Puerto Rico, she knew education was the key to experience a more promising future. We look back at her trajectory and savor each story of success that led to this moment of VICTORIA.
