Episode 69: Jesus and His Relationships: the Purpose of Friendship

Listen Later

The purpose is what drives a thing or an object forward to a goal or a vision, it is the reason behind an activity or action. Friendship is more than a feeling, it is a walk, a journey of purpose and destiny. We have friends because we are on an assignment that is bigger than us. We have friends because we were not created to be alone, but to be together in communion with others. The purpose is the total of one’s divine assignment and we are inherently equipped by design to find, fulfill and live for a purpose. Friendship is designed primarily for three key reasons which are vital. When we fail to grasp the purpose behind a thing, abuse is inevitable. This is so with friendship. We need to understand that our human relationship is first and foremost to reveal the intimacy that exists in the Godhead. We are to mirror our interactions in that line. This will guard us against having a distorted view of human relationships, it will keep us from idolizing men and women in our lives.
