Reflections on Living Well

Episode 69 | Petra Hanson

Listen Later

In this week's episode Broderick is in conversation with Petra Hanson. Petra is the founder of Aerapy and a radical believer in aerial movement as medicine. A former pop singer-in-Japan from New York City, Petra's obsession with aerial, came after decades of dancing and singing on stages with her band. She wanted to dangle in the fabric, not to perform in a circus, but to heal chronic stress in her body. Seeking a gentler version for non-acrobats and middle-aged bodies, Petra eventually found her like-minded aerial teachers in Hawaii, Northern California, and New York and a more therapeutic aerial practice. Now certified in Antigravity Fitness® by the world-established Christopher Harrison, she has recently opened her own affiliate studio in Brooklyn. There, she continues to hone her own method, Aerapy, and teaches private classes and workshops in Costa Rica. She believes all bodies, ages, and levels can enjoy the experience of moving in the air in a manner that’s exhilarating but also safe and calming to the nerves.
