For Dustin, the realization occurred in phases. He

was diagnosed with blood cancer six days before his

wedding. After 10 months of chemo, he was cancer-

free, but a new zest for life inflamed a long existant

drinking problem. Another 10 months and one DUI

later, Dustin checked in to rehab. When his wife

picked him up 30 days later, she told him she was

pregnant and showed him the first picture of his

son. Dustin's second life was fully underway.

Dustin's focus is now being a friend to people going

through similar hardships. He has spoken to dozens of

corporations, raised over $100,000 for blood cancer

research, and sold ~5,000 copies of his self-

published book Cheeto Dust (And Other Blood on

Millenial Hands) with all proceeds going to cancer

research.

Other highlights of rebuilding his life include losing

50 pounds, running three marathons, fathering two

children, receiving multiple promotions at Cisco

Systems, leading substance abuse interventions, and

most recently, writing a new book.
