We are so grateful for Chandra Shipley's expertise and commitment ot the IWU community as she supports students throughout their careers, helping with class and major selection, enhancing relationships with advisors and providing necessary information and guidance for students with disabilities. Chandra is an essential member of our care team and a great conduit between academic affairs and student affairs. Together, we collaborate on student support, particularly issues involving the classroom and academics. It is not unusual for students to originate in the Dean of Student's Office with an issue only to be walked over to Chandra's office or vice versa. By intent, our offices are just that close so that students can have a one-stop show experience between the Dean of Students' Office, Chandra's Office, Student Advising and that of the Registrar. Chandra is in her 8th year at IWU, and is a seasoned professional specializing in Academic and Disability Services. She earned her masters' degree from ISU in College Student Personnel Administration, and worked at the University of Illinois' Chicago campus before we successfully lured her away. In addition to directing our Advising and Disability Services Office, Chandra also trains first year advisors and coordinates the First Year Reading Program.
