In this episode, Tamara StClaire discusses how The Blockchain has the potential to replace and re-architect many incumbent systems to remove friction and provide for new business models, greater efficiencies and trust in healthcare. Several applications being explored are: master patient identification, autonomous auto-adjudication, longitudinal patient history, interoperability, supply chain management, clinical trials, and unleashing data for research. Stakeholders are starting to align and collaborate in unique ways to bring together the ecosystem and brain trust that could allow us to realize new opportunities. Innovative startups are playing in this space and are cutting a wide swath in the industry. Even with this rosy outlook, there are still technical challenges as well as cultural/philosophical hurdles to widespread adoption and implementation.
