This show is our belated contribution to the International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month that happened in March. (Yeah, yeah, we’re one day late for March, we know. So much for the algae time machine)
To celebrate women in science, botany and phycology specifically, Jack talked to Frances Gallagher of the Ellen Hutchins Festival about Ireland’s first female botanist Ellen Hutchins.
Being a female scientist in the end the 18th century was not an easy fate, and as Frances and Jack go over Ellen’s life, they unfold an amazing story of a great talent finding its way despite everything. Should I say it also includes some detective elements too.
So, get ready for an exciting journey, and we’ll see you next time!
