Episode 7: Schitt's Creek

Listen Later

Welcome to Schitt's Creek, or at least our discussion of the hit Canadian comedy about the Rose family who lost everything and then found what they were missing in this dinky town. There's Moira, with her unique accent and collection of wigs (with names!). There's Johnny, with his slick suits, thick eyebrows and mostly nonsensical business plans. There's Alexis, with her outrageous past adventures, social media know-how and vet arm candy, Ted. And there's David, with his sweaters, scathing one-liners, sweetheart Patrick and motel-owning sidekick Stevie (who wears all the plaid!). Both of us love this show for its humor and its heart, as well as its queer representation through David and Patrick's relationship. As season 6, the final one, continues to air, enjoy our hour-long discussion of this show, the town and its character with humorous, but insightful tangents about soap opera plots and linguistics as well as more serious discussions about what it LGBTQ+ representation stands for and what it means to empathetically consume it.

Schitt's Creek airs Tuesdays on CBC in Canada and Pop in the US at 9pm EST/8 pm CST.
