Who is the woman behind Silk & Sentences?
This week, I'm putting the books aside and sharing the story that shaped the way I read them.
From a childhood spent escaping into stories in Far North Queensland, to leaving home at fifteen with one suitcase and no plan, to building an international career in the beauty industry, studying philosophy and theology, working in ministry, and eventually finding my way back to the place I'd loved all along—books.
This isn't a biography.
It's the story behind the lens through which I read every novel, and why I'm endlessly drawn to stories about belonging, identity, beauty, forgiveness, hope, and what it truly means to be human.
If you've ever wondered why I notice the themes I do, why I so often wander into philosophical rabbit holes, or why Silk & Sentences is about so much more than book reviews, this is the episode where it all comes together.
Join me for a deeply personal conversation about curiosity, courage, reinvention, and discovering that sometimes the things we think are detours are actually leading us exactly where we're meant to be.
And if you'd like to hear more in future about my adoption journey and my amazing mother who took in another woman's child, motherhood, childhood trauma, or life in ministry, I'd love to know.
Follow Silk & Sentences wherever you're listening, and join me every Sunday morning for thoughtful conversations about books, ideas, and the beautifully complicated business of being human.
