With surfing - the waves are going to push you as high as twenty to thirty feet in the air. If you don't trust yourself and you grip the surfboard - you WILL wipe out.
I've used this analogy to help coach within my industry. Our high emotions (Irritation and Anger) are the waves. We tend to hold onto these feelings and situations when they happen. This causes us days, weeks, or even months of pent-up grudges or limited mental capacity.
Trust yourself and let go of the surfboard. Trust that you're going to ride out the wave. You don't have much a better chance at moving on from irritating situations by gripping to them and marinating in those emotions. As with surfing, when you freeze in terror and grip back onto the surfboard, your high comes down really quick.
Don't grip onto these sudden emotions when these types of scenarios arrive in your life.
Acknowledge the situation, analyze what happened, how to correct, then ride out the wave.
