Episode 7: The Switch (Part I) - Corporal Punishment

Listen Later

Word of The Day: Sisyphean (adj) - of or denoting a task that can never be completed.

Presented By: @p_bradleyyy

Whoopings. If melanated, chances are that you got at least one as a shorty. In the Black community, whoopings are viewed by many as critical to the process of disciplining children. Is it really essential? Are whoopings a "Black thing"? Should corporal punishment continued to be implored? Reck and his "Person" discuss what the research says about spankings amongst other ethnic groups (10:43), then reflect on their personal experiences with corporal punishment (22:01). Is there a difference between a whooping and child abuse (28:32)?  The topic is well-explored in Open Space alongside @p_bradleyyy.  The Spoken Word Spotlight welcomes two dynamic artists in the name of Women's History Month (55:40).

Don't forget, #ConvoWithChristine is available now in Episode 7.5
