Essential 90s History

Episode 7 -- Tim Berners-Lee and the Creation of the World Wide Web

Listen Later

On Christmas Day of 1990, Tim Berners-Lee created the first web page on the World Wide Web. While the World Wide Web would not be accessible to the outside world until the following year, today Michael and Tim are going to be discussing the creation of the World Wide Web as part of Essential 90’s History!
Where did the idea for the World Wide Web come from? Who was Tim Berners-Lee? How is the internet different from the World Wide Web? How did this invention shape the history of the 90s, and how can it help us think about our own use of the internet today?
