Through meditation and through ultrarunning I have learned that awareness is a vital tool to employ in our journeys. This tool, separate from its use in meditation, is one that fosters honesty to oneself. I think that in today's society of lies, sugarcoating, and glossing over the truth, a reconnection to awareness is paramount. This ability to be aware of both the pleasures and stressors in our lives, yet not be absorbed by them, is one that allows us to see both life and ourselves as they truly are.
