Things That Shape Us

Episode 70 - Minecraft or Yourcraft?

Listen Later

Welcome to the Things That Shape Us podcast. My name is Jonathan Wymer and I'm joined by James Gary to discuss a various range of subjects that are all related to one idea: How those things shape our lives.

In this episode,
James and I discuss ONE THING that shaped our lives.  Minecraft was marketed (and still is) as a kid's game, one with simplistic puzzles based in a world made out of blocks. But beyond commercial marketing, the game has been accepted into the gaming community as a strong contender for therapeutic means. A soothing environment with basic tasks that reenact primal human behavior for survival, exploration, and storytelling. One would think there couldn't be a deep dive conversation on such a game, but the sandbox style and intricate design with manageable gameplay creates an astounding universal theme for anyone who ventures into its realm.
