Sara and Kyle are joined this week by LA-based urban anthropologist, Dr. Adonia E. Lugo. Adonia shares the story of her journey into transportation advocacy - using bikes regularly for transportation while living in Portland, working to organize the first ciclovia event in Los Angeles, co-creating the City of Lights / Ciudad de Luces project while working for LACBC connecting day laborer cyclists with bike advocacy, and her more recent focus as an advocate for dismantling racism within the active transportation movement itself. Adonia shares news about her current efforts like The Untokening gathering planned in California later this year and preparation for the release of her new book next year titled “Bicycle/Race: Transportation, Culture, & Resistance” available now for pre-order from Microcosm Publishing.
