In Today’s episode we’re talking with Elementary Principal, School Turn Around expert and CEO of C and C educational consulting Mr. Shawn Hurt. Before we get into his area of expertise we dive into his origin story.

A quick summary of some of his main points include:

The schools that are doing well across the united states, even the world are using data to drive instruction.

We have to have high expectations for our students. A lot of times we feel like we have to lower our expectations because they(the students) come from environments that aren’t conducive to learning. That’s something that you should never do.

Kids are kids. We’re gonna deal with our mindset how we view these kids, how we look at these kids and how we’re gonna deliver instruction everyday.

The three pieces of advice he has for beginning principals include:

Find a mentor.

Make sure that you know understand and live by data.

Surround yourself with superstar experts in their field.
