My first meeting with Klazien van der Meer was in a supermarket line. I stood watching a holiday sunset on one of the store’s flatscreens when Klazien burst out laughing. She was wearing a rather odd pair of sunglasses at the time. I had barely finished asking myself: Why is she wearing a pair of sunglasses like that in a shop like this? When Klazien offered to let me try them on, which I did and wow!
