Senegal emerged as champions of Africa for the second time in five years, with the final notable for having almost as much drama off the pitch as on it. They played out a 0-0 normal time draw with hosts Morocco, before prevailing in extra time, thanks to a wonder strike from Papa Gueye. Despite the lack of goals, the match was anything but dull - players stormed off the pitch, penalties were Paneka'd down the middle into goalkeeper's grateful arms and ballboys did their best reenactment of Greco-Roman wrestling contests. Just one normal day of AFCON, please.

Despite the 2025 GAA season ending on Sunday, the 2026 season got underway earlier this month with preseason competitions. This weekend marks the return of league action, with some interesting storylines to be observed. Will Kerry go back to back for the first time in twenty years, or will one of the chasing pack snuff out hopes of a repeat? Meanwhile in the hurling, it's anyone's guess who'll emerge victorious from a very even top five - we'll leave the members of that elite group up to your imagination.
