This week on cheesecake & crying, we chat (lament) about our first weekend away with multiple children, minus the dads. Our idea was to tackle the trip together: safety in numbers! Buuut, it obviously didn’t go as planned. We learned diaper genies and dogs don’t mix, bedtime and floor-to-ceiling windows don’t mix, and most importantly, that unrealistic expectations and children NEVER mix.
We discuss our mom “fails” but also reiterate how bad moments don’t make you a bad mom. It’s all about adjusting those pesky expectations and shifting your mindset, not only around the outcome of a experience, but about how much your kid can handle – i.e. you can’t expect an overtired toddler outside of his comfort zone to rally and behave like a model child.
Plus, in light of the weekend’s events, we levelled up for this episode’s critique segment: we decided to skip the cheesecake and go straight for the wine. #yasss
