Hi friends, welcome back to the podcast! Today I’m doing something a little different as you may notice…I’m doing this solo!    This past week someone asked me a question that made me pause and reflect. “Why are you so passionate about being a part of community and why do you believe in building community?”    The short answer to this is because of how I was raised. I was raised in an Amish culture and because of that community has always been a big deal. I believe growing up in the Amish community is what has driven me now as an adult to build something inclusive and where all women feel welcome and a part of something.   Key Takeaways:   

• As adults we all want to feel like we belong. We often find community within spaces like the gym, church, school, etc. 
• “We were created with a desire to belong.” We saw this last year in 2020 with a lot of isolation and finding ways to connect online and now we are seeing the negative effects of how this has played out.

• What are practical ways to build community? You have to be able to rally around a shared mission, vision, or values. 
• However you choose to give, it will come back to you. Our world and culture tells us to hold everything tight and it’s easy to live in a competitive mindset.  I believe the more open handed we are allows us to reach so many more people.
• You have to invest into your community. Cultivate experiences together and show care for one another.
