"The business concept of competing to be better does not apply to education. For education, it really comes down to funding -- funding that is now less available because of the growing number of charter schools.

I don't look at party as much as I used to. In order for me to vote for someone, I think they would need to acknowledge the fact that we need to strengthen our public schools. The second thing is acknowledging that we need some intentional programing for underrepresented minorities."
