Listener’s Companion: How to Craft a Personal Testimony in Three Minutes
1. Why Your Story Matters

Your testimony is not about how bad your past was but how good God’s grace is. Every believer carries a story that points back to Jesus. Ordinary lives reveal extraordinary grace.

Scripture Focus

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”
Revelation 12:11

Reflection

When was the last time you shared what God has done in your life
What holds you back from sharing your story with others

2. The Three Part Framework

Every testimony has a rhythm that is simple, honest, and centered on transformation. Use the following structure to shape your story with clarity.

Before Christ

Describe what life was like before Jesus. Identify what was missing, broken, or unfulfilled.

“You were dead in your trespasses and sins… but God, being rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ.”

Ephesians 2:1–5

Notes

What defined your old patterns or mindset
What were you searching for before Christ found you

Encounter with Christ

Describe the turning point. Explain how you met Jesus or came to understand His love personally.

“As he journeyed, he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.”

Acts 9:3

Notes

What moment, event, or realization opened your heart to God
Who or what helped lead you there

After Christ

Show the change that followed. This is not perfection but a new direction.

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Notes

What has changed about your outlook, peace, or priorities
How do you see God’s presence in your daily life today

3. Sharing Your Story with Clarity

A testimony does not need to be long to be powerful. Three minutes can communicate truth with strength when the story is centered on Christ.

Keep It Focused

Choose one primary theme such as peace, forgiveness, purpose, or freedom.
Use simple and natural language.
Emphasize what God did rather than what you accomplished.

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”

1 Peter 3:15

Reflection Questions

What single word best describes what Jesus has done for you
How can you share your story naturally in conversation this week

4. Living Your Testimony Daily

Your testimony does not end when you finish speaking. It continues through your actions. Every choice, every kindness, and every truthful word continues to tell the story of Christ’s work in you.

“Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.”

Psalm 107:2

Challenge

Write out your three minute testimony and share it with one person this week. Pray that your story draws someone closer to the truth of who God is.

Prayer

“Lord, thank You for rewriting my story with grace. Give me the words, courage, and love to share what You have done. May my story point others to You. Amen.”
