There is a scene in Season one of Ted lasso where Ted mentions that “We Can’t change the past, but we can choose to honor it.” So far I have talked about the change and how to really see if it is needed, the one thing I should mention is that we need to honor the past. 

We have to own up to the part we played in our past. Owning it means that we have acknowledged it and embraced it, but are ready to move forward. 

There is a huge step in the change process that ties directly into this. 

We have to apologize to ourselves.
