In #instigatingwomenandfriends Episode 8 we admit our personal vulnerabilities and feelings related to the impact of COVID-19 on women in the workforce. The detrimental impact to our national workforce and to our children’s education is real. In this episode we highlight a NYT article entitled #mothersaretheshockabsorbersofoursociety as well as the latest McKinsey and Company report on their study of the state of women in corporate America entitled #womenintheworkplace. Your respective employers can participate in the study in 2021 by signing up at https://womenintheworkplace.com/ View NYT article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/14/pa... The theme common among both pieces are that women are at risk of backsliding their positions and roles in corporate America after years of intentional progress. This is not only a gender issue - it is also a Diversity, Inclusion and Equity issue. The long-term effects may also affect the future state of our national workforce as our children risk losing months or even years of professionally-led education. Please read the article and report - we ask you to comment with all creative solutions that come to mind. If you want to take your action further, then forward the article and report to those you know in positions of authority and power to enact solutions in your respective communities. Finally, offer grace to all. Thank your colleagues and companies for doing all they can right now. Thank the teachers who are being asked to teach in ways and my methods that are suboptimal.
