Episode 80: Lazy Birds Reloaded
We’re back this week with another Lazy Bird episode to catch you up on all the things that we’ve been watching, playing, and listening to! Please forgive our recent absence and PALMREADER’s rough-sounding voice… the sickness (not COVID) has him in his grasp. Sigh. So, after our usual introduction, we explain the lack of our final SPOOKY SZN offering, lament PALMREADER’s recent illness, and then dive right in.
We kick things off by talking about Otis’ new multimedia project and album “Cavernous” and Otis gives a little background information on the whole thing. It’s out now on all streaming platforms and is really great, so go listen to it. We also chat about some of our homies’ new tunes including Sideshow Trice’s new EP “be. a. trice.” and the recent STEVEDAVE singles. They’re also great. Go listen to them, too. From there, we discuss Jordan Peele’s “NOPE”, “Terrifier 2”, David Leitch’s “Bullet Train” and the ensemble assassin sub-genre, Ruben Östlund’s satirical “Triangle Of Sadness”, Ridley Scott and “Black Hawk Down”, Zach Cregger’s “Barbarian”, “Andor” being the best piece of Star Wars IP in a while, and more.
We then chat about the new “God Of War: Ragnarok” game, Otis gives an update on his “Horizon: The Forbidden West” play through, PALMREADER dishes on “Battlefield 2042” after purchasing it for very cheap in the U.S., then we both discuss “The Sims 4” being better on the computer and chat about war games in general. Will PALMREADER fold and try “COD: Vanguard”? Yeah, probably.
And, finally, we get into some of our favourite music releases from the past few weeks including the new Drake and 21 Savage album “Her Loss”, Westside Gunn’s “10”, Fred Again..’s “Actual Life 3”, Wiki and Subjxct 5’s “Cold Cuts”, Smino’s excellent “Luv 4 Rent”, dvsn’s “Working On My Karma”, Dixson’s “004DAISY”, Alvvays’ fun new album “Blue Rev”, and more. Plus, we ruminate on the evolution of Turnover from “Peripheral Vision” to now and share our differing opinions on their new album “Myself in the Way”.
