This episode was recorded 9.21.22 before Alicia's relapse and a new eye opening low. She's now back on the wagon celebrating 10 days of sobriety.
It's never easy admitting you need help, it's even harder recognizing you might have a problem. Especially if you're at the mercy of such a widely socially acceptable substance, but there's no shame and there’s such a strength in accepting it and discovering a will to power through and learn so much more about yourself and why you are the way you are.
Whatever you’re going through know it’s only temporary, so long as you recognize your strength and do what needs to be done to be better and happy. Nobody needs an explanation. You do it for yourselves because you’re a fuckin badass and deserve it.
Sending all the love to anybody reading this who may need it. Root for yourself and know we are for you to. ✨
If you or someone you know struggles with substance or alcohol abuse it never hurts to read up on ways to support or seek help. Please visit https://www.samhsa.gov or help guide.org
An app Alicia has found extremely useful also has been "I Am Sober" it tracks your day to day milestones, can show you how much time you've saved doing something else, how much money you've saved, and even how many calories you've saved. It also connects you with people who are on the same day as you who can really understand what you're going through.
Your Hippie may just be setting out on this journey... again, but a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step and you don't have to trek it alone.
